About Us
Balloonprint Ltd are a reliable well established completely family owned & run 'in house' balloon printing company established in 1989 by Peter Bradley, as a sole trader, who previous to starting in Balloon Printing owned a Party, Bouncy Castle & Fete Equipment Hire Shop in Aldershot, Hampshire 1986 - 1989.
The balloon printing business at this time was mainly selling to the trade.
P.G.C.
The company when formed in 1989 was known as P.G.C. Personalised Goods Company, as well as supplying personalised balloons also supplied other personlised items such as pens, napkins, bunting etc.
This company originally traded from an address in Reading, Berkshire, for 5 years before moving to Addlestone in Surrey, we quickly outgrow the premises in Addlestone and moved home & business to Crawley near Gatwick Airport in 1996, at this time the name of the company was changed to Balloonprint UK which refected better our mainline of buisness.
Balloonprint UK.
With the introduction of the internet, and selling direct to the public, business took off and his wife Alyson joined the business full time, along with her brother David, in 2003 it was decided that larger premises were again required, Crawley being very expensive for Industrial & Residental buildings it was decided to look further afield, the company was supplying balloons nationwide so it didn't really matter where it was located.
We found a premises near to Wisbech on the Norfolk/Cambridge border and moved there Christmas week 2003, with David & his family relocating also. Fortunately the Christmas & New Year shutdown gave us time to get the workshop up & running.
Balloonprint Ltd.
By 2007 with the introduction of new Latex printing machines in 2004/5 business had grown so much that a Ltd. company was formed and started trading in July 2007.
Although one of the new machines could produce a two colour print the registration accuracy wasn't good enough for some orders, we were also increasingly been asked to print more than two colours, these jobs were outsourced for a few years, but we weren't happy with the quality or service that we were receiving from these companies, so in 2010 we decided the purchase a machine that could print more than 2 colours on a Latex balloon with better accuracy.
After many months looking we finally decided on a machine from Solvakia, it was a completely new technolgy for Latex balloon printing, although technolgy had moved on from Offset print which produced a wishy washy image, to screen printing that produced a much better solid crisp image there was still the problem of printing on an inflated balloon in more than one colour, the machine from Slovakia overcame this by printing the balloon flat, the balloon still has to be inflated but is then squashed on to the platten for printing, a much better registration between colours is possible, the way that it prints means the machine footprint can be smaller and you can print more colours than on the machines avalable before, we purchased a machine capable of printing 8 colours one side & one colour the other. Because this machine is capable of close registration of colours with can print a full colour image in CMYK, although not magazine quality it's not bad for a balloon,
Delivered & installed in January 2011 it was orignally hand fed by the operater, a year later a feeder was added, so the machine virtually runs itself.(link video)
Due to the growing balloon printing orders we now receive we have had to stop doing the other personalised items that we used to provide, we now concentrate on printing balloons both latex and foil, in fact it we do "What it says on the tin", we print on balloons.
We are not the biggest or the smallest balloon company, the dearest or the cheapest, but we like to think we offer a good product and service to match or better our rivals.
Balloonprint is still run by Peter & Alyson in the office, with three family members operating the workshop.
We have the capacity to produce 'in house' around 20,000 printed balloons per 8hr shift, some companies do over exaggerate their capacity claims, but we like to keep it real.
